Workplace based education - Distributed education - community based education
The Consortium of Workplace Based Education and Learning (COWBEL) is a group of international veterinary colleges and universities that provides students real-world clinical learning opportunities using a distributed clinical year model. The group has been formed to share ideas and best practices. Additionally, COWBEL's vision is to educate the veterinary community regarding the benefits of using a workplace based or distributed model of education to prepare new veterinary graduates.
Our mission is to provide well-prepared, compassionate veterinarians to meet the needs of today's world. Collaboration with various veterinary practices and organizations allows the COWBEL members to meet these goals.
Our mission is to embrace the pursuit of excellence both inside and outside the classroom to best prepare students and new graduates in their veterinary career. COWBEL seeks to work with interested groups inside and outside of academia to move veterinary education forward and to collaborate to better prepare veterinary graduates. This collaboration includes the support and education of veterinarians, technicians, veterinary nurses, veterinary technicians and staff who participate in workplace based education opportunities.
